With their daughters Gracie, Maggie, and Audrey all grown up and out of the house, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are relishing their newfound empty nest status. The couple, aged 56 and 55 respectively, has discovered a delightful routine of romantic date nights, as shared in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE magazine.
“We’ve turned our evenings into cherished moments,” McGraw revealed, “Cooking up elaborate dinners and adorning our home with flickering candles, we set the ambiance just right and tune in to the nostalgic tunes of the ’80s. These evenings have become a regular fixture in our lives. So much so, that when the girls return home, they playfully jest about our ‘extended alone time.'”
McGraw, who is gearing up for a new album release titled “Standing Room Only” and an upcoming tour starting next March, opened up about a recent family game night. “
Our youngest daughter Audrey had some friends over, and we all engaged in a spirited trivia session that lasted well into the night,” he shared. “In the end, I think Faith won – at least, I’m pretty sure she did. Although, I might have won, but for marital harmony, let’s say Faith emerged victorious!”
The inspiration behind McGraw’s upcoming album stemmed from an unexpected source – the pause in touring during the tumultuous year of 2020. Rather than dwelling on the challenges, he channelled his energy into crafting an album that exudes positivity and radiates brightness. He elaborated, “Those difficult times led me to put pen to paper and create music that could uplift spirits. I wanted to share songs that resonate with life’s affirmations, spreading a positive message and inspiring people to become better versions of themselves.”
Describing his ideal day off, McGraw painted a serene picture of tranquility. “Picture me by the beach, engrossed in a captivating book, and allowing a blissful eight hours to drift by while I remain cozily ensconced in my chair. I’m an all-or-nothing kind of person – I either go full throttle or take a complete pause.”
Reflecting on the serene sunset scenes at their Tennessee residence, McGraw mused, “Nearly every evening, Faith and I marvel at the beauty of the sunset from our home. In my younger years, I might have witnessed more sunrises than advisable, but age has steered me toward the tranquil charm of sunsets.”
As for McGraw’s do-it-yourself inclinations, he humorously admitted, “I have a single DIY project each year that involves a grand floral undertaking.
