First Year Curriculum

Dental Anatomy including Embryology and Oral Histology-a composite of basic dental sciences and their clinical applications.
Students are Trained to acquire basic skills
- Carving the whole permanent teeth in wax
- Microscopic study of Oral tissues
- Age estimation pattern of tooth eruption from plaster casts of different age groups

After the first year the student is expected to appreciate
- Normal development, morphology structure and function of oral tissues
- Histological basis of various dental treatment
- Physiological ageing process in dental tissues

Third Year Curriculum

Oral and maxillofacial pathology is the speciality of dentistry and discipline of pathology that addresses the nature, identification and management of diseases affecting the oral and maxillofacial regions.
Students are trained to acquire the knowledge of
- Microscopic study of common lesions affecting oral tissues through microscopic slides
- Study of disease process in oral region
- Study of tooth anomalies/ polymorphism through tooth specimen and plaster casts
- Basic excerises in forensic odontology such as age estimation and bite mark analysis

PG Curriculum

Postdoctoral course in oral and maxillofacial pathology offers advanced education in this field, with the primary objective to produce a scientifically oriented and clinically proficient individual. The department includes a post graduate section with a intake of 5 students every year with a course duration of 3 years

The training is aimed at bringing out the good specialists in the branch of Oral and maxillofacial pathology, to evaluate all kinds of lesions in oral and maxillofacial region and diagnose the complex tumors Histo-pathologically, and train in advanced diagnostic procedures.

The Fallowing activities are done during the three year post graduation course:

- Ground sections (10)
          a) Eight longitudinal (Normal, Attrided, Abraded, Fluorosed)
          b) Two cross sectional
- Decalcified sections (10 teeth, 10 bone = 20)

- Histology and Oral Pathology records
- All journal club & Seminar soft and hard copy presentations along with duly signed feedback forms
